Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. I know nothing about public speaking and am a complete beginner. I’m worried about being in a group that have more experience that I have.

    A. Don’t worry about this. We assess every course attendee beforehand to ensure that you’re in a class of similar souls with similar requirements.
  • Q. What happens if I sign up for a course and an unexpected work or other event means I have to miss a class or postpone it altogether?

    A. Don’t worry if this happens, we’ll simply schedule you into the next programme that suits your diary. Our objective is to ensure that every course participant completes the programme and achieves their objectives.
  • Q. What happens if I struggle with any part of the programme? I’m worried that I might hold other people back.

All courses are managed to ensure that no person ever gets left behind. However, if anyone struggles with any aspect of the programme, we will provide additional tuition and support between the modules at no additional charge to ensure that they are happy with their own progress. Public speaking is challenging enough, so we work closely with each person to ensure that no further pressures are placed upon them and that they all successfully complete the programme.
  • Q. I have an upcoming speaking event that I really want to prepare for. Can this be accommodated within the public speaking programme?

    A. Yes of course. When we’re assessing your requirements beforehand, just bring this to our attention and we’ll ensure that it’s incorporated into your training. If you need any further assistance outside of the programme prior to your public speaking event, we’ll be happy to help.
  • Q. I’m not actively involved in business per say, but just want to be able to say a few words confidently whether it’s in the golf club, at a wedding or other social events.

    A. Don’t worry about this. Our courses are designed to teach people from all walks of life the basics of public speaking regardless of the speaking task. This includes every type of event from formal company presentations to social occasions such as weddings etc. Bear in mind, many people feel most nervous when they have to speak to a group they know well, be it at a funeral, wedding or even making a ‘going away’ speech when a colleague is leaving. Whatever your requirement, we can cater for it.
  • Q. I don’t mind giving presentations to groups, but I seize up whenever I’m put on the spot and asked to speak without any prior warning. Can you help?

    Q. I don’t mind giving presentations to groups, but I seize up whenever I'm put on the spot and asked to speak without any prior warning. Can you help?
  • Q. I have been on other courses which haven't really helped me conquer my fear. How do I know this will be any different?

    A. Whilst I can’t speak for other courses, I can assure you that I know just how challenging it can be to confront and overcome your fear of public speaking. This programme is just one step on what could be a lengthy journey to effective public speaking and we have a 100% success rate so far with every student. As mentioned previously, any additional work that’s required outside of the programme to get you speaking is included free-of-charge. A unique aspect of our programmes is that we focus on practical techniques that really work rather than theoretical techniques that are quite frankly useless!!
  • Q. When are the courses held?

    A. Our open programmes (SUAS) are run over three consecutive evenings either in a city centre venue or in the Harvest training centre in Northwood, Santry, Dublin 9. Each evening runs for approx. 2.5 hours and the start time and venue is flexible to suit all participants on each programme. All materials are provided, so there is no preparation needed for the first class and you don’t have to bring anything with you. For all other public speaking programmes, the content and schedule are designed based on the customer’s requirements.
